Des Lorkin

Born and educated in New Zealand, Des worked for five years with Air New Zealand at Auckland Airport, which apart from providing an excellent grounding in customer service second to none, also gave him a taste for travel, which is still one of his greatest interests. In 1971 he did his national service in the NZ Army, ready to go to Vietnam, luckily for him the Vietnam War ended before he was required to serve.

Moving across the Tasman in 1975, he changed career paths and began working in the real estate industry. He has worked in many suburbs throughout Melbourne including North Melbourne, St Kilda and the Caulfield area in 1981; His association with the area goes back nearly three decades, having lived in the area since 1979. When he joined the real estate network in Glen Huntly he became a member of the REIV.

Des describes the Glen Eira area as an excellent residential one, with easy access to train, tram, quality schools, as well as Monash University Caulfield Campus and approx. 20 minutes by train to the city.

He has been married to his wife, Margaret, for over 44 years and has three children, a daughter and two sons who all attended local schools. His association with the local football club, Carnegie Lions Club, Caulfield RSL and other community bodies have given Des and Margaret, who was also a Director, Licensed Estate Agent and Accredited Property Manager, a feel for the area and a very thorough understanding for the needs of its residents, both present and future.
