With 40 years of real estate expertise, I’ve become sought-after by landlords looking for holistic help with their Sydney based investment property portfolios.
At Home Property Agents, a large proportion of our clients are landlords or sophisticated investors with a diverse mix of properties. We have hundreds of properties under management, and support real estate investors with properties located in Sydney’s Lower North Shore, but also as far north as Gosford and south to Cronulla.
Clear and consistent communication is critical in property management and real estate sales. It’s the secret to having clients for life. Just as we are a family business, we often get referred to other members of our clients' families to help them with home sales or managing their investment property.
When it comes to managing a real estate asset, my mantra has always been ‘Do it now and do it well’. This philosophy – one I’ve followed for 40 years – allows my team and I to protect the long term financial interests of our clients.
The second key thing I’ve learnt about property management, in particular, is not to cut corners. When we undertake repairs and maintenance, or renovations, we make sure to use the best method and products, and only engage professionally qualified tradesmen.
It's these traditional business values that ensure our clients aren’t just clients; they become friends. And, with our longest-standing clients I catch up for coffee regularly – often just because we enjoy one another’s company.
The strength of our client relationships also sees us manage a couple of small shopping centres for clients with bigger property investment portfolios. With these commercial investments, I need to be more strategic in finding and retaining tenants, especially in the current climate. My key strategy is to lease the shops to complementary businesses that can feed off each other to their mutual success.
When it comes to property sales, my son Anthony and I work closely with our sellers. We make a great team; younger property sellers or buyers gravitate to Anthony, while I can talk on the same wavelength as the downsizers and retirees.
