have been in the Real Estate Industry since 1995 when I first started Real Estate with another rural company (Websters)

The reason why I wanted to go to work in the first place was that we had been on our dairy farm and Mervyn got sick so we sold our cows and then adjusted dairy stock for 4 years, and I was approached to apply for the job as a consultant by a well known real estate consultant Trevor Medwin, and to this day I know it was Lindsay Morgan (he was the real estate manager for NW Coast) and Keith Poke who was in livestock and real estate who convinced them I was suitable (I suppose) for the job and for them to give me a go. To this day I see Keith quite regularly and I hold him in great esteem as my mentor and best friend.

I think that being on the farm and milking it makes me understand how hard the farmers and their wives and families work and todays farming is a real business enterprise, but it is still a way of life and you really appreciate everything you achieved.

When I started in real estate there was not very much training at first but it is what you learn from experience and knowledge as you get older and wiser. I pushed myself to the limit to get my Manager’s license and given a gentle push again from Keith and my husband Mervyn. I would work all day, then come home and study, with my daughter sending home many nights a cooked meal. This would have been the hardest thing to do in my career, travelling to Launceston and Hobart for courses each month and then drive back home to Smithton after sitting for a day in courses.

I guess to answer what is the most interesting thing about me would be that I am very determined to achieve, and I am willing to have a go at anything and doing things for myself, (even cementing and building bridges and ponds) this is not necessary related to real estate, it could be gardening, sewing (for myself, daughters and grandchildren) fishing, building laying tiles I like satisfaction of at least trying but not necessarily being perfect but at least to say I had a go.

I have developed a garden of aprox 4 acres whilst enjoying real estate I find this is a great outlet for frustration and also fishing. We have had many wedding here to help out young people on their special day, even being hosts for drinks and food.

I find the garden, music and fishing relaxing and place where you can reflect on things.

In between all of this try to make time for my 5 daughters and to enjoy my 14 grandchildren, and giving them a holiday (2 at a time to Melbourne)as this will last in their memory as something special as they grow up I hope!
