Constructed in 1914, the cement works enabled Australia to no longer rely on imported European concrete, the plant relied upon the Local Limestone Quarry reserves (noted as also for sale).


The operation was extremely successful and operated for some 97 years providing solid employment for residents of the surrounding villages of Kandos and Rylstone whilst also working closely with the coal mining and power generation.
