The Location

Warburton is a popular and attractive tourist town located in the Yarra Valley between forested mountains in peaceful and serene surroundings. It is about one hour and 15 minutes east of Melbourne CBD (77 km) in the direction of the huge water catchment of the Upper Yarra Reservoir, located 24 km north-east of Warburton. This former gold rush town is a short drive East from Lilydale (the starting point of the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail, an iconic trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders) and just south of Healesville, well known for its nature park with hundreds of native animals.

Warburton enjoys picturesque views of the surrounding mountains with their majestic stands of Mountain Ash, rainforest and fern gullies. It is the perfect base for visitors to this area full of natural wonders, including La La Falls and the famous 300 year old Ada Tree, as well as charming cafes, restaurants, wineries and one of the best golf courses in the region. The Yarra River meanders through the town and is at its most beautiful at these high reaches of the Upper Yarra Valley. Along the river banks there are many places to sit and relax, have a picnic or barbeque, swim or throw a fishing line. A short 30 min drive from Warburton is Mount Donna Buang. Rising to the height of 1245 metres, it is the closest snow field to Melbourne. Attractions at the summit include walking tracks, toboggan runs, a 21 m tall lookout tower and a 40 m long elevated walkway through the tree tops. The road from Warburton to Mount Donna Buang is a challenging cycling route which has also become a popular destination for recreational driving, motorcycling, and in the summer, a challenging training route for endurance cyclists and triathletes

The Property

This amazing property is a 5-minute walk from the centre of town in a peaceful location with magnificent mountain views on approx. 2 acres. The land is rich with a variety of mature trees, ferns and green vegetation including landscaped gardens, a pond, natural streams and small waterfalls.

The property, known as 'Forget Me Not Cottages', consists of an architecturally-designed main residence and three guest cottages, known as The Music Room, The Green Room and The Rose Cottage.

The Main Residence

The main residence is a multi-level timber and metal roof building in excellent condition throughout. The home has high quality fixtures and fittings with knotty cypress pine lined ceilings, natural slate tiles, down lights, and custom joinery. The large windows bring in an abundance of light and offer wonderful aspects of the surrounding garden and forest. The interesting layout, with high ceilings and internal open spaces, as well as the central exposed brick column which houses the two open fire place, give the home warmth and a unique charm. The double door entrance on the ground level lead to a foyer, a modern kitchen, a meal area and a lounge and gives access to the double carport. A few steps from the foyer lead to a larger living area that is surrounded by a wide wooden deck that overlooks the natural surrounds. The first floor houses the master bedroom, a second bedroom, a luxurious bathroom, a study and a number of decks. A loft is also accessed from this level via a ladder.

Additionally, a fully self-contained and private apartment, known as the Water Garden, is accessed from the first level. The apartment has its own kitchenette, log fire place and an ensuite bathroom with a 2-person corner spa. Its covered pergola is set in a stunning garden with a waterfall where you or your guests can unwind to the soothing sound of water.

The Cottages

The Music Room is located beyond the pond in a secluded and high position among the trees. It is the largest of the self-contained cottages and has high timber-lined ceilings with exposed beams and polished floorboards. It contains an open plan area with a canopy covered King size bed, a lounge with a log fire, a bar and a full kitchen with a dishwasher. There is also a bathroom with claw foot bath and a separate laundry. A covered deck wraps around the cottage and a heated spa is sunk in the balcony for an indulgent experience.

The Green Room is the original cottage, previously used as the stables. It is surrounded by trees, roses and creeping vines. Inside you will find a cosy and intimate space with canopy covered queen bed, slate ensuite bathroom and a kitchenette. It has high timber-lined ceilings with exposed beams and rock covered walls that give it a rustic feel. It has a log fire place as well as a split air conditioning system for extra comfort. A covered pergola and an external deck with in-ground spa complete the romantic hideaway under a huge willow tree.

The Rose Cottage is a charming cottage made from stone and knotty cypress pine. It is set at the top of the property alongside a natural creek and has a private outdoor heated spa pool surrounded by beautiful maple trees and is next to a natural waterfall. Inside you will find the same opulent interior seen across all the cottages with a canopy covered queen size bed, a full kitchen, a log fire and an ensuite bathroom.
