An iconic Goulburn landmark, the Fireside Inn, with its unique ambience, has been THE place to celebrate or to enjoy an intimate dinner for over 60 years. It is one of the oldest, continually running restaurants in NSW.

Situated in the heart of Goulburn's historic precinct, with beautiful views across Belmore Park, the Fireside Inn was built in 1934 by J. E. Knowlman (designed by the well-known Manfred firm) in memory of his motor tour through rural England.

The Fireside Inn has had strong associations with the local community over several generations. Family parties celebrate golden wedding anniversaries here because it was the venue for the couple's wedding reception 50 years earlier. During the time of the Second World War, it was the venue for regular Saturday afternoon dances and teas to entertain the wounded soldiers who were fit enough to enjoy an outing from the nearby military hospital.

Today retaining all the warmth and charm of the era that Mr Knowlman faithfully recreated, the building includes restaurant, small shop/office at front and two substantial flats/ office spaces upstairs with a large rear deck and utility rooms (laundry, storage). Also included are three brick garages with rear lane access.

The little shop (or office) has street frontage and is very quaint indeed. It would make an ideal specialty retail adjunct to the restaurant or, as is currently the case, could be leased out. It includes bathroom facilities.

One flat (western side) has two living areas, kitchen/dining, bathroom and two bedrooms. The flat on the eastern side has kitchen, living room, bathroom and one bedroom. Both would also make ideal offices or could be converted to create one spacious residence with lovely views over the park to the grand Goulburn courthouse.

The restaurant features as its centrepiece the magnificent fireplace which attracts diners from far and wide on chilly Tablelands winter evenings and Sunday lunches. Timber beams and polished timber flooring add to the atmosphere and warmth. Seating for 75 includes open table space as well as intimate window cubicles.The restaurant has a reception area and bar facilities.

The kitchen is fully operational and includes a large, walk-in cool-room. Currrent kitchen and bar stock will be at valuation at the time of sale. Restaurant furniture, decorative pieces and art works, restaurant linen, crockery, cutlery, glassware, serving dishes and the kitchen equipment are all included in the sale.
