Five-star Tassie glamping business offers luxury tree change
For anyone searching for a lifestyle change and a business opportunity, how does five-star glamping in Tasmania sound?
Truffle Lodge at Gretna, less than one hour from Hobart, is regarded as one of Australia’s best luxury glamping accommodation experiences.
The almost 5ha site boasts Derwent River frontage and valley and mountain views.
Circa Heritage & Lifestyle’s Dominic Romeo described Truffle Lodge as one of the most breathtaking sites in the Derwent Valley — pristine and authentically Tasmanian.
He said since it hit the market, the property had attracted strong interest with several inquiries coming in weekly.
“Many are from people dreaming of the escape to a pristine and semi-isolated location, however, I am currently dealing with industry professionals looking at expanding their accommodation portfolio with a unique property such as this,” he said.
“Truffle Lodge includes eight large, exceptional accommodation safari tents with ensuites, plus three fixed pods for dining and relaxing.
“Its Derwent Valley location is attractive, a region known for its intoxicating, pristine natural beauty.
“The area is spoiled for choice with world class experiences, gourmet and artisan produce and an array of wineries and distilleries.
“The Derwent Valley is attracting strong tourism investments due to its closeness to Hobart, Mona and its environmental beauty.”
The riverfront tents are connected by a boardwalk to the lodge.
The interiors are professionally styled and include kingsize beds, leather and canvas lounges, storage, bar and coffee facilities, handmade wooden baths, basins and a shower.
Each accommodation tent has a private deck, sun lounges and hammocks.
The Lodge is made up of three timber buildings connected by wraparound decks, a large guest lounge, separate dining room, reception, kitchen preparation room and laundry area.
Truffle Lodge includes a 1ha truffle orchard with established hazelnut trees.
The property is part of the Land for Wildlife conservation program and is rich in birdlife and animals while the river teems with trout and platypus.
The property is serviced with mains power, unlimited water rights, private water license and irrigation rights, ADSL internet, 24,000L water tank, three-phase power and extensive storage facilities.
While investors in this type of property take a long-term view, Dominic said there were challenges that present themselves when selling a tourism business amid COVID.
“It is a little more challenging, you need to be creative, especially for buyers interstate who cannot view because of border closures,” he said.
“In this situation you are relying on extensive details — images, video, inspections organised by the purchaser via a third party — and being totally transparent in talking about the property.
“Selling sight unseen does occur but most buyers will want to physically see, touch, sense, smell and listen to the river flowing and the tranquillity surrounding the property.
“It is tricky to get a true sense of the property, especially with a flowing river and the native wildlife via a video!”
No.3411 Lyell Hwy, Gretna will be sold by expression of interest closing on December 5 at 2pm.
